Talk on Laboratory Astrophysics: Experiments and Simulation

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) organized a talk program 'Laborotary Astrophysics: Experiments and Simulations' on Friday, 13th February, 2015 at Conference Hall, Thames International College, Old Baneshwor, Kathmandu. During the talk, invited speaker Dr. Uddhab Chaulagain presented his research work on the Laboratory Astrophysics during his Ph.D. in France. Dr. Chaulagain is a research assistance at LERMA, Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC), Paris, France.

Dr. Chaulagain explained the participants how astrophysical phenomena studied inside the laboratory and highlighted the discovery of radiative shock wave during their plasma experiments by his team and mentioned that to be the first attempt for such result! He presented on how lasers simulation helps us to understand the vast universe inside a laboratory. He explained the important role of lasers to bring large scale astronomical phenomena under the control environment!

Dr. Chaulagain also presented the different educational programs on Masters and Ph.D. level in Europe and encourage participants to apply for their suitable program to develop their research career.
